The Ocean Clean Up finally evolved from prototype to functional device

The objective of this 200-word article is to let the people that efforts to make reverse our impact on the planet it is been made and it has started to show results.

Seven years ago a 16 years old named Boyan Slat inspired the world in a TEDx talk, determined to change a horrifying reality where there's more fish than plastic in the sea, that's what he witnessed while he was on a diving trip, and after years of research and prototyping the question that he made for himself “why can’t we just clean this up?” has a positive answer.

Just recently the CleanUp system 001 has harvested the first batch of plastic showing that the technology to clean the great pacific plastic patch started to work is a sign of hope that we should not ignore. Why? Because the breakpoint of no turning back was passed 2 years ago, even if we pulled off all plastic pollution today it would take a century for all CO2 emissions to dissipate. So it's a must that we take action today.
